Frequently asked questions
How often does a fire alarm need servicing?
BS 5839-1 recommends a service at least every six months by a competent person, plus a weekly call point test that you can do yourself. See our fire alarm servicing guide.
What category of fire alarm do I need?
It depends on the building and the findings of your fire risk assessment. Most businesses need an L or M category system, and sleeping risk such as care homes and HMOs usually needs more detection. Our fire alarm categories guide explains the options.
Can you take over my existing fire alarm?
Yes. We service most makes of conventional and addressable panel. We'll inspect the system first and give you a written report on its condition.
Do you install wireless fire alarms?
Yes, including Ajax EN54-certified wireless systems. Wireless is ideal for listed buildings, occupied premises and temporary sites where running cable would be disruptive.
